The Double Cross of Brigid

Detective Steve Nguyen of the San Francisco Police Department is looking for clues as to how a pretty lady is found dead in the apartment of Thatcher Porter, a wealthy land developer in the Bay area. What Nguyen discovers takes him into the mining fields of California, and back in time to the California Gold Rush, and to the watery depths of the Sacramento Delta near Chipps Island. While Detective Nguyen solves a mystery in modern day California, the diver who found a strong box in the Sacramento River, Jilly Hale, pieces together clues found in the strong box from more than 150 years ago related to the detective’s case. Powerful forces in the California real estate industry don’t want the secrets exposed from the 1800s to contemporary times. As Nguyen and Hale get close to the answers, it almost costs them their lives.
